However the consumers should never use this non-profit filing as the only qualification to determine if the debt consolidation company is a true non-profit. Many so called non-profit debt management companies advertise this status to attract consumers when the are not actually non-profit.
Finding nonprofit debt counseling organizations who are truy a nonprofit agency can be difficult. A good consumer credit counseling service will tell you if they are also a nonprofit debt consolidation organization. A "good" debt consolidation company will be ISO certified and all of the credit counselors on staff should also be NIFCE certified.
